Pick One: Deliver On Your Dreams, or Settle For Second

Yes, that’s right pick ONE, which is to “Deliver on Your Dreams”.  Ignore part two of the title displayed above, which states “Settle for Second”.  We all have dreams of various aspirations that we want to achieve in life.  The question is why should it remain just a dream.  It appears that most people settle for second, also known as a mediocre life.  Others dive into a life of passion as they pursue their dreams.  They create a life that is congruent with who they are.  For example, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that all races of people will be united in the way they live in this world.  During the time of this dream, it was almost impossible to imagine blacks and whites interacting together in a constructive manner.  Racial segregation and hate crimes were at an all time high.  While pursuing his dream, he encountered good times and challenging times.  Regardless whether he had a day of great success or a day of difficult challenge, he persisted with delivering upon his dream each day.  Similarly, you may have a passionate dream that may seem impossible.  The key is to deliver upon it each and every day.  Whether you pursue your dream or not, you are guaranteed to experience successes and challenges in life.  In other words, if you are alive, both will exist, and you cannot escape the challenges.  Therefore, the conclusion is to pursue your dreams and live a passionate and congruent life with who you are!

Ultimately, many people’s lives are formed by a sequence of choices.  Each day, each hour and each minute you are making and delivering upon your personal choices that form your life.  For example, you may choose to watch a particular TV show at 7 PM on Tuesday night, or you may choose you invest time in your business at 7 PM.  Regardless, each choice forms your life.  Look around and notice what exists in your life right now.  Well, it exists due to choices that you made in the past.  Therefore, to create your future, pay close attention to each and every choice you make.  Make your choices wisely.  Turn off the TV and rid other distractions.  Pursue YOUR dreams each and every day.  Do not settle for second.  Again, pick ONE, and Deliver On Your Dreams!!!

The Beginning of Greatness

What comes to mind when you hear the word, "Great". More specifically, who comes to mind?

  • Mahatma Gandhi
  • Mother Teresa
  • Albert Einstein
  • Abraham Lincoln
  • George Washington
  • Helen Keller
  • Michael Jordan
  • Mohammad Ali
  • Beethoven
  • Martin Luther King
  • One of my personal favorites… Bruce Lee

Who else? Who's your favorite?

Have you ever thought about being great at something? Or is it just too overwhelming? What about starting a great business? Did you ever want to do something… well… great?

How do you do that though? How do you do something great?

The great Les Brown once said, "You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to become great."

And there it is, isn't it.

Most entrepreneurs get started in business because we want to create a better life for ourselves and others. We work hard to create something "great" in our lives. It doesn't always start out great though. In fact, most things don't start out great. The key though is that it gets started.

"No great thing is created suddenly." -- Epictetus

Without action, nothing happens.

In fact, according to Dictionary.com, the origin of the word Entrepreneur comes from the French in the late 1800's and literally means, "one who undertakes (some task) or to undertake."

So just start undertaking the things you need to do in order to achieve your own personal successes.

Bruce Lee is widely known as one of the greatest martial artists ever. Most people don't know that it wasn't until his teenage years that he started training in the martial arts. He didn't start out as a great martial artist. In fact, he didn't start out planning to be one of the greatest martial artists ever. He wanted to be a great actor (which he also became after years of hard work).

The thing though was he got started. And through a lot of hard work, perseverance, and determination, he became great. He was notorious for practicing a simple punch, kick, or technique hundreds of times a day. He did it so often that it became a reflex. Then and only then did he move on. Start off small and work your way up.

"Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together." -- Vincent Van Gogh

Michael Jordan is arguably one of the best basketball players in history. Of course, he didn't start out that way either. You may have heard that he got cut from his high school basketball team. He worked his tail off to get to where he got. Take if from the big man himself, "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

So where does greatness begin? It begins with you. It begins when you begin. It begins when you start taking action and doing the things that need to be done.

"Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance." -- Samuel Johnson

Sure, you can plan on achieving greatness. Mohammad Ali always knew he was great and planned on achieving it. Along with the planning though was all the hard work, effort, and perseverance - the action - taken to achieve that greatness.

"The price of greatness is responsibility." Winston Churchill

So take responsibility for your greatness. Find the greatness within yourself… and get there by just getting starting. Start that business of your dreams. Start making that "side" project of yours into something real. Start making a difference in your life… an impact. Start down your path of greatness, because as you now know, the beginning of greatness starts and ends with you.
